Looking to gain some real momentum heading into the summer, Holland will face off against Scotland at the Estádio Do Algarve in Portugal on Wednesday night.

Starting with Holland, while they might have come under real scrutiny after opening their World Cup qualifying campaign with an action-packed 4-2 defeat against Turkey on foreign soil, they have bounced back in some style. Landing back-to-back 2-0 and 7-0 victories against Latvia and Gibraltar, Head Coach Frank de Boer has praised his side since he took charge back in September. Despite a tricky start to life under the one-time Crystal Palace boss, The Oranges have won four of their last five matchups across all formats, including an eye-catching 2-1 win away in Poland seven months ago. Looking to gain some perfect momentum heading into the summer, it’s well worth keeping an eye out for attacking talisman Memphis Depay who has racked himself 24 goals across all formats with Lyon this season.

As for the visitors, making their long-overdue return to an international tournament this summer, Scotland will be desperate to find some stability. Despite landing what was a routine 4-0 victory against the Faroe Islands, Steve Clarke’s side have largely failed to build off of that famous night out in Serbia back in November. Recording just a single win in any of their last five matchups across all formats, they couldn’t have asked for a tougher test on foreign soil. Facing what is a stern test when they make the trip out to Portugal in midweek, it should be noted that The Tartan Army do hold a worrying record against the former European champions. Including a 1-0 defeat when the two nations last faced off back in 2017, Scotland have lost each of their last four matchups against Holland.
