Seen to be one of the dark horses out in France this summer, Holland will meet Japan in Rennes on Tuesday night.

Starting with a high-flying Holland side, replicating the recent success of the men’s team, the Lionesses have continued to shine out in France this summer. Once again catching the eye in their 2-1 win over Canada last week, Sarina Wiegman’s outfit won each of their three Group E outings and their form in the final third will be most impressing fans around the Netherlands. Bagging five goals in just their last two appearances, the Oranges are now enjoying a seven-match winning run and have tasted defeat just once since the start of February. With their confidence at a continued high, Holland should see Tuesday night as a golden opportunity to keep up their momentum.

As for Japan, while the Asian giants might still hold a fearsome reputation, Head Coach Asako Takakura has seen his side show some signs of a recent struggle. Suffering a 2-0 defeat against England in their Group D finale, the Blues eventually finished five points adrift of the Three Lions. Aside from a close-fought 2-1 win over Scotland earlier in the month, Japan have failed to win any of their other seven appearances across all competitions, a run that stems back to the 3rd of March. With many questioning their performances outside of East Asia, we’re backing a resurgent Holland to secure a quarter-final spot in midweek.
