Holloway: Attack the best form of defence

Ian Holloway has vowed to play Tottenham at their own game on Tuesday by placing an emphasis on attacking football.

Harry Redknapp’s side have been praised for a direct approach to matches this season and it has reaped rewards, with Spurs performing well in Europe as well as fighting for fourth place in the Premier League.

Spurs travel to Bloomfield Road on Tuesday to face a Blackpool side that have lost seven out of their past nine matches and Holloway’s men will begin the match just two points and two places above the relegation zone.

But the Blackpool manager believes attack is the best way to overcome a strong Spurs side as he looks to mastermind a turnaround in fortunes.

“I’ve said to the lads, it’s really important to remember what got us here in the first place, which was open, expansive football, and I’m not going to try to do anything different,” he said.

“Yes, I’ve got to get the balance right between attacking and defending, but let’s have a go.”

“Let’s have a go and see if their defence is as good as they are going forward, whoever and wherever that is. That’s what we’ve done all season.”

“I’m going to pick a team I think will beat Tottenham Hotspur. Some people might think I’m mad to say that, but that’s what we’ll be going out attempting to do.”

Blackpool midfielder Elliot Grandin, who limped out of the Tangerines’ last match against Aston Villa, is set to have a scan on his hamstring will not feature.

Stephen Crainey (ankle) and Brett Ormerod (groin) will also miss out.
