Ian Holloway claims every remaining game will be like a cup final for Blackpool as they fight to stay in the English Premier League.
Holloway’s side make the trip to Everton on Saturday on a bad run of form – having lost four Premier League in succession – but the Blackpool manager thinks his side can turn their run around with a bit of luck.
He said: “I remember (Everton manager) David Moyes being really calm when they were down at the bottom of the table. He said they needed something to go in off someone’s knee and they got an own goal and turned it around.”
“No way should a club with their squad be in the position they’re in, but you could say that about a lot of teams this year. The new teams have come in and got a few points which has really rocked the boat.”
“I don’t think Everton are inconsistent, I think that’s this season. You can play really well and not get the rub of the green.”
“We need to avoid a bad run and I think we’ve lost seven out of eight but every game is a cup final for us now. We’ve surprised everybody – probably even ourselves – and at the moment we sit in the Premier League with 28 points from 24 games.”
David Vaughan (knee) and captain Charlie Adam (calf) both picked up knocks in Wednesday’s defeat at home to West Ham and are slight doubts for the game.
