Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lewis Holtby could be moving back to Schalke this January, according to the player’s official representative.
The 23-year-old has found it hard to prove his worth at White Hart Lane since joining the club from Schalke in January 2013, and it looks as though he could be returning to Veltins Arena just a year later.
Holtby’s representative has moved to confirm reports that his client is unhappy in North London and even hinted that a return to Bundesliga is a realistic possibility.
“Lewis is desperate to play, which is why we are looking intensively for solutions,” agent Marcus Noack confessed to Bild. “Schalke is an interesting option.”
Schalke are expected to make a move on Holtby after missing out on Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, and they could propose a loan deal with an option to buy.
The Miners are hoping to get their top 4 bid in Bundesliga back on track following a poor finish to the first part of the season, and they are 7/4 for a top 4 finish at the moment.
