Schalke general manager Horst Heldt says the club have fielded some ‘concrete offers’ for midfielder Lewis Holtby.
The 22-year-old with English family has expressed his desire to one day play for a Premier League club.
“I have always said that one day, I want to play in England. I would not exclude Liverpool, even if it would mean a hit against my father who is a die-hard Everton fan,” Holtby told Bild.
Heldt claimed ‘there are concrete offers’ for Holtby and feels the youngster will pursue the idea of a move.
“Lewis has English roots, I understand that he is chasing this dream,” Heldt said.
Scahlke’s Champions League opponents Arsenal are said to be leading the race for the Germany Under-21 captain’s signature according to some reports, along with struggling Liverpool.
Heldt is also aware that the player’s contract is running out at the end of the season.
“We are in final talks. I think we can offer a lot to him. But he is for free (because of his contract running out), and the decision is up to Lewis in the end,” he said.
