German midfielder Lewis Holtby reveals he is not afraid of the fierce competition for places at White Hart Lane.
Spurs have been extremely busy in the summer transfer window, reinforcing their midfield area with Erik Lamela, Christian Eriksen, Nacer Chadli, Etienne Capoue and Paulinho, while Andros Townsend returned from a loan spell at QPR.
This has seen Lewis Holtby fail to play a single minute in club’s three opening Premier League matches, but the player is adamant there is no cause for concern just yet.
“I am very pleased to be in this squad,” the 22-year-old was quoted as saying in Daily Express.
“You need a big squad if you want to challenge for trophies and be strong in every competition.”
Lewis Holtby was regarded as one of Germany’s hottest prospects when he joined Tottenham from Schalke in January 2013, but he has had a pretty disappointing start to his career at White Hart Lane.
The former Germany international only made a total of 11 Premier League appearances for Spurs, with his long-term future in serious doubt following the heavy summer recruitment.
