Keisuke Honda has contacted Manchester United via Twitter, asking the 20-time English champions to make him an offer.
Now 33 years old, the former Japan international scored eight goals in 24 games for A-League side Melbourne Victory last season, at the end of which he was released and is now a free agent.
After starting out at Nagoya Grampus, the attacking midfielder tried his luck with VVV-Venlo in Netherlands, CSKA Moscow in Russia, AC Milan in Italy, and Pachuca in Mexico, before arriving to Melbourne last summer. It seems he is keen on playing in the Premier League as well.
There can hardly be any doubt as to Manchester United needing reinforcements, with the future of Paul Pogba with the club increasingly uncertain and Juan Mata past his 31st birthday, but given their tendency to aim for young British talent, it remains to be seen whether they’ll be giving Honda’s approach any serious consideration.
