(GSM) – Former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier is staying tight-lipped amid reports he is in contention for the vacant managerial position at Aston Villa.
The 63-year-old Frenchman has been linked with a return to the Premier League following the departure of Martin O’Neill from Villa Park just before the start of the season.
Some papers have suggested that Houllier is in line for the manager’s role while others have linked him with a director of football role at the club.
But Houllier chose not to comment on speculation over his future after his arrival at Jamie Carragher’s testimonial game against an Everton XI at Anfield this afternoon.
“Never and always are two words you can’t use in football,” the Frenchman said.
Houllier managed Liverpool from 1998 for 6 seasons before leaving Anfield to spend two seasons with Olympique Lyon.
Houllier is currently working as technical director for the French Football Federation.
