The Colorado Rapids clinched a top-two finish in the Western Conference with a 3-2 win over the Houston Dynamo in MLS on Saturday.
A brace from Dominique Badji helped the Rapids to their win at BBVA Compass Stadium in Texas.
Mauro Manotas struck twice for the struggling hosts, but the Rapids held on for a win that moved them within two points of Dallas.
Colorado, who extended their unbeaten run to five, are six points clear of the third-placed LA Galaxy.
Badji opened the scoring from an angle in the 12th minute after a poor turnover of possession, but Manotas cancelled it out with a fine finish just before half-time.
A fine pass from Dillon Powers set up Badji for his second, and Shkelzen Gashi struck to make it 3-1.
Manotas pulled a goal back for the Dynamo with nine minutes remaining, but the Rapids held on for three points.
