Howe: Defoe deal not done yet

“I’m not going to talk you through any details because no deal has been finalised so until that moment happens it would be foolish of me to comment, so let’s wait and see what happens in the next few days.

“Any deal that does get agreed will be in the player’s best interests and what the player wants to pursue.”

Those are the words of Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe, who confirmed that Jermain Defoe’s loan move to Rangers hasn’t actually been made official yet. This could indicate that there have been some issues in getting it over the line, but either way, it certainly seems like the Englishman will be leaving the Cherries sooner rather than later.

Defoe is considered to be one of the most underrated strikers in English football’s recent history, and when you examine some of his headline-making moments in the Premier League over the years, that theory certainly has some weight to it.
