Icelandic defender Hermann Hreidarsson has agreed to sign a new contract with Premier League side Portsmouth.
The 34-year-old has agreed to extend his deal for at least a further 12 months.
“Me signing with Portsmouth again was always going to happen even though I had many other options,” he told Morgunbladid.
“Me and my family feel great in this place, we have been there for two fun years and I think I have plenty more in me to play in the Premier League and that had a lot to say in this decision.
“Middlesbrough showed me most interest and also Celtic and Rangers but that did not go as far.
“Portsmouth promised me, as far as they could, that they want to strengthen the team for next season and that their goal is to keep doing well in the Premier League.”
