Bundesliga giants Hamburger SV have had a €7 million bid rejected for Basel star Granit Xhaka, according to Blick.
The 19-year-old midfielder has been linked with a number of high-profile clubs, including Manchester United, but Hamburger were the first side to make a formal offer.
“Hamburg have made us an offer for Xhaka,” Basel chief Bernhard Heussler told Swiss newspaper Blick.
The reported €7 million bid was swiftly rejected by the Swiss giants, but the player reveals that he is likely to leave the club in the summer.
“Playing in the Premier League is a dream for me. And HSV are a great club,” Xhaka told Blick.
“My plan is actually to play for Basel until the summer. But, should my club receive a suitable offer, we will get together.”
