Huddersfield Town 7/5 to beat Birmingham City in Wednesday’s Championship showdown

Competition: Championship

Market: Huddersfield Town win

Odds: 7/5 @ 888sport

Looking to extend on what has been a recent purple patch in midweek, Huddersfield will welcome Birmingham to the John Smith’s Stadium on Wednesday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Huddersfield might have spent the whole of last season battling it out at the foot of the table, the Terriers have opened the 2021/22 campaign with a real flurry. Making their return from October’s international break with another eye-catching display on home soil, Carlos Corberán’s men picked up a deserved 2-0 win against Hull. Opening the midweek fixtures sat in the play-off spots and cementing their spot as a real surprise package so far, the one-time Leeds coach will find the mood in his camp at a real high. Appearing to have really found their feet and landing a 3-2 win against Blackburn when drawing a close to September, Huddersfield should be smelling a real chance on Wednesday night. Likewise, it should also be noted, Huddersfield have picked up nine points from their last four Championship outings at the John Smith’s Stadium.

As for the visitors, while Birmingham might have put in a rugged display against local rivals West Brom last weekend, it was more disappointment for Lee Bowyer’s side. Suffering a 1-0 defeat at the Hawthorns, there is no doubt that the Blues are a side desperately seeking a boost. Heading into October’s international break with a dreadful 3-0 drumming against Nottingham Forest on home soil, the former Charlton boss has now seen his side pick up just a single point from their last six outings. Knowing that they could face a stern test on their travels in midweek, Bowyer will have a real headache over his side’s extended issues in the final third. Including drawing a blank against West Brom last time out, Birmingham have failed to find the net in any of their last five outings on the spin.
