According to a recent report from Sky Sports, Chris Hughton is believed to be interested in the vacant managerial position at Bristol City.
Ever since he was sacked by Brighton & Hove Albion last May, Hughton has turned down five job offers from clubs in the Championship. Now, though, after Lee Johnson was sacked from his role at Ashton Gate, it appears as if he could be heading back to the second tier after all.
Hughton is interested in having discussions with the club, with his excitement stemming from the fact that he believes they could be contenders to win a quick promotion to the Premier League – with the right backing, of course.
They are still mathematically in with a chance of getting the job done this season, but it seems far more likely that the 2020/21 campaign will be that they’re working towards.
Hughton isn’t the only notable name in the running, though, with former Republic of Ireland boss Mick McCarthy also being on the club’s shortlist.
