Birmingham City boss Chris Hughton was ‘surprised’ that Roy Hodgson wants to sign on-loan goalkeeper Ben Foster permanently.
Foster is on a season-long loan from the Blues but the Baggies boss revealed his intention to sort out a permanent deal as soon as possible.
The former Manchester United keeper also admitted that he would like to sort out his long-term future, although he realises that it may depend on whether Birmingham City get promoted.
However, Hughton insisted that no discussions had yet taken place between the clubs and indicated that his side’s league status next year would be an important factor.
“I was surprised at Roy’s comments, because there haven’t been any talks between the two clubs recently,” Hughton told The Daily Mirror.
“We’re all aware of the fact that Ben Foster is our goalkeeper so dialogue will have to take place at some stage. But there haven’t been any talks of late and it will be addressed at the right time.
“We are pushing for the playoffs and it is very dependent on ourselves.”
