Hugo Almeida on Atletico Madrid radar

Turkish daily newspaper Fanatik is reporting that Atletico Madrid are showing interest in Besiktas striker Hugo Almeida.

Los Colchoneros believe the Portugal international would be a good addition to the squad at Vicente Calderon and are looking to make their interest concrete in January.

Atletico president Miguel Angel Gil Marin is hoping his excellent relationship with the player’s agent Jorge Mendes will help the La Liga side win the race for the striker’s signature.

The good news is that Almeida has just over seven months left on his deal with the Turkish giants and he has already rejected a two-year extension as he is looking for a new challenge.

The 29-year-old has spent last three years with the Black Eagles, scoring a total of 29 goals in 67 Turkish Super Lig matches.

His suitors Atletico Madrid face local rivals Getafe at home next weekend, with los Colchoneros 2/9 to claim maximum points.
