Italian media outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that Cesena are set to complete the signing of Portuguese striker Hugo Almeida on a free transfer.
The experienced forward has been in negotiations with the Serie A side since August, but he was hoping to receive better offers from other interested sides.
However, with no concrete proposals arriving, Almeida has lowered his wage demands and is widely expected to agree a deal with Cesena in the coming days.
The 30-year-old can be signed outside a transfer window seeing as how he is a free agent after his contract with Besiktas expired.
Almeida began his career at FC Porto and also enjoyed loan spells with Uniao Leiria, Boavista and Werder Bremen before joining the Bundesliga side on permanent basis.
He has spent last three and a half years in Turkish Super Lig, where he featured in 88 league matches for Besiktas and scored 37 goals.
