Hull back in for Long

Hull City will make a fresh attempt to sign West Bromwich Albion striker Shane Long when the transfer window reopens next month, the Mirror understands.

The Tigers were sure they had got their man during the summer, but the deal to take him to the KC Stadium collapsed minutes before the deadline on September 2nd.

The Republic of Ireland’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, though Hull manager Steve Bruce is to complete a deal in January as his side look to build on encouraging start to their first season back in the top flight.

Nottingham Forest have also been linked with a big money move for the 26 year old, though he is not willing to drop to the Championship.

Long has three league goals so far this season, and is priced at 9/1 to open the scoring when the Baggies take on Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Boxing Day.
