Hull City 29/20 to beat Barnsley in Saturday’s Championship contest

Competition: Championship

Market: Hull City win

Odds: 29/20 @ Bet 365

Looking to move within touching distance of the play-offs, a high-flying Hull will make the trip to relegation scrappers Barnsley in Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, while Barnsley may have turned to former Wolfsberger boss Gerhard Struber earlier in the month, the Reds still find themselves sat rock-bottom of the Championship. Already sat five points adrift at the foot of the table and seen to be the leading contender for the drop this season, they also watched fellow relegation scrappers Middlesbrough snatch a vital 1-0 win in midweek. On a three-match losing run and failing to record a single victory since the opening weekend, fans around Oakwell will be most concerned by their side’s continued issues at the back. Shipping two or more goals in five of their last six outings, no team in the second-tier have shipped more than Barnsley’s 37 strikes this season.

As for the visitors, putting in arguably a season-best display and putting four past fellow play-off contenders Preston in midweek, Hull find themselves enjoying quite the resurge. Led by leading marksman Jarrod Bowen who has now bagged a brace in back-to-back appearances, the Tigers have lost just one of their last six Championship outings. Knowing that a victory on Saturday could see them move within a point of the top-six, Grant McCann’s men have also continued to shine while away from the KCOM. Including landing back-to-back away victories over Fulham and Nottingham Forest, they have lost just one of their last seven matches on the road.
