Hull City 5/2 to beat Aston Villa in Saturday’s Championship clash

Competition: Championship

Market: Hull City

Odds: 5/2 @ Bet 365

Two sides enduring very different success entering the New Year, Nigel Adkins’ high flying Hull side will travel to Villa Park on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with Saturday’s hosts, after coming off the back of a 3-0 hammering away at Wigan last weekend, former Brentford boss Dean Smith will know he is firmly out of his honeymoon period at Villa Park. Now failing to record a win in their last four appearances, the Villans once again find themselves freefalling down the Championship table. Heading into Saturday’s matchup in 12th position, it will be Villa’s recent form in the Midlands giving Smith the biggest headache. Shipping three against Swansea and crashing out of the FA Cup in their last home match against Swansea, the hosts have failed to win any of their last five matches at Villa Park.

As for the visitors, while Villa might be enduring another terrible run of form, Nigel Adkins’ Hull side couldn’t be enjoying a brighter spell. Putting in yet another eye-catching display in their 3-0 win at home to Sheffield Wednesday, the Tigers have now won their last six Championship matches on the bounce. With the chance to move within touching distance of the playoff positions, Adkins will be looking for leading goalscorer Jarrod Bowen to carry on his impressive tally. Heavily linked with a move to Tottenham, the forward already has 13 goals to his name. It is also worth noting that Hull have not lost a Championship away match since the end of October.
