Hull hopeful of double Spurs deal

Hull City are closing in on the signing of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tom Huddlestone, the Mirror understands.

The Tigers are hoping to secure a deal for the England international, who is set to cost them a fee that ‘at least matches’ the £5m they laid out for record signing Jimmy Bullard in January 2009.

The former Derby County man made just eleven league starts under Andre Villas-Boas last season, and would this season face further competition from new signing Paulinho should he remain at White Hart Lane.

Hull manager Steve Bruce is also keen on securing a loan-deal for fellow Spurs midfielder Jake Livermore.

The 23 year old, who has been with Spurs since turning professional in he turned professional, saw his opportunities even more limited than Huddlestone during the previous campaign.

He made just four starts in the Premier League, though he did earn his first England cap in the 2-1 victory over Italy back in August.
