Hull City signed Republic of Ireland winger Stephen Hunt from Reading for an undisclosed fee on Thursday.
Hunt, 29, could make his Hull debut in Saturday’s Premier League opener at Chelsea after completing his move to the KC Stadium.
Although the transfer fee wasn’t revealed, it is believed the Tigers paid around three million pounds to sign the former Brentford player.
Reading director of football Nick Hammond confirmed on the club’s website: “Stephen Hunt has developed enormously as a player here, coming to us on a free transfer and going on to become an established international player.
“He has made it known for some time that he was ready for a new challenge, and this is a good move for all three parties. We wish him all the very best for the future.”
Hunt is Hull boss Phil Brown’s third capture of a frustrating transfer window after he recently landed Seyi Olofinjana and Jozy Altidore.
Brown, who was turned down by Fraizer Campbell, Marc-Antoine Fortune and Bobby Zamora earlier in the close-season, also hopes to sign Celta Vigo striker Kamel Ghilas.
