Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels is set to be sidelined for two weeks with a foot injury sustained in a friendly against Fortuna Dusseldorf.
The defender only returned to action on January 31 after picking up an ankle problem in Germany’s friendly victory over England at Wembley in November.
But Dortmund confirmed on Tuesday that, while the original problem had completely healed, Hummels now faces another stint on the sidelines following Monday’s fixture.
Club doctor Markus Braun revealed the problem would require “about a two-week rehabilitation period”.
Hummels has made 11 Bundesliga appearances for the UEFA Champions League runners-up this season.
Dortmund currently sit third in the German top flight, 17 points adrift of leaders Bayern Munich.
