(GSM) – Hungary captain Zoltan Gera has dismissed reports which suggested he is about to quit Fulham in order to join Liverpool.
After Hungary’s 2-1 defeat at the hands of England, Gera praised Steven Gerrard as one of the best midfielders in the world but rejected suggestions he is about to join the England skipper at Anfield.
The 31-year-old midfielder interests his former boss and current Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson. However, he confirmed his wish to remain at Craven Cottage and play under new boss Mark Hughes.
“The England team is full of top players. Against us, they played under pressure because the supporters were not happy,” he said.
“But they showed character, because they were 1-0 down and then changed the game. I love Steven Gerrard as a player – he is a great captain for England and scored two goals, he is one of the best midfielders in the world.”
However, when asked about the rumours of a switch to Liverpool, Gera insisted: “I do not know anything about this. I was happy at Fulham with Roy, but he has moved on to Liverpool and I am still at Fulham.”
