Dutch striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar has poured cold water on speculations linking him with a summer exit by saying that he could end his career at Schalke.
The experienced forward was widely tipped to leave the Miners in the January transfer window having entered the final year of his deal at the club, but he surprisingly opted to sign a new contract until June 2015.
Despite signing a new deal at Veltins Arena, the Netherlands international has again been linked with a summer exit, but he does not appear to be thinking about leaving.
Furthermore, Huntelaar has revealed that there is a good chance of him ending his playing career at the club.
“It is very well possible that I sign another extension with Schalke. I could sign another contract here at the age of 32. Retiring here is an option for me,” Huntelaar told Sport Bild.
The 29-year-old was in the form of his life last season, scoring 48 goals in as many competitive appearances for the club, but this season has not been going according to plan.
Huntelaar has netted just 10 times in 30 competitive matches for the Miners this term.
