Schalke chief Horst Heldt has suggested that star striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar is interested in extending his deal at Veltins Arena.
The Miners are afraid of losing their star player given that he will be out of contract in the summer and they have been trying to start talks with his agents over a contract extension.
And while Huntelaar was considering his options a while back, it appears he is ready to commit his future to Schalke, with the two parties set to meet at the negotiating table very soon.
The Miners sporting director Horst Heldt has moved to confirm that the Netherlands international is ready to sign a new deal at Veltins Arena.
“Both Klaas Jan and the club can imagine further cooperation,” Heldt told reporters ahead of the Champions League clash with Sporting Lisbon.
Klaas Jan Huntelaar, 31, has proved to be a great signing for the club, having bagged a total of 62 goals in 107 Bundesliga appearances since joining from AC Milan.
