According to the player’s agent, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar will not be joining Liverpool on this fascinating final day of the transfer window, Talk Sport reports.
Huntelaar has had his future in some doubt for a number of months now and the English Premier League side were ready to make a move on him right at the last moment.
However, the Dutch international’s agent has said that he will not be heading to Merseyside: “Huntelaar will still be a Schalke 04 player tomorrow” he said.
This is sure to be a disappointing bit of news for Brendan Rodgers as he is desperate to strengthen his attacking options before the deadline.
Now it is likely that the Liverpool manager will turn his attention to securing the services of both Clint Dempsey and Daniel Sturridge.
Dempsey seems to be holding out for a dream move to the Reds and Sturridge is keen to leave Chelsea on loan to play more first-team football.
These two would be good business for Liverpool, but Rodgers could still make one final push to try and lure Huntelaar to Anfield.
The Liverpool boss looks as though he will be incredibly busy today, but who will he be able to bring in?
We shall see.
