Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has moved on to confirm that he will be leaving Bundesliga side Schalke at the end of the current season.
Frustrated by the lack of opportunities at the German club, Huntelaar will not be extending his contract with Schalke and will move on as a free agent at the end of the campaign.
The experienced 33-year-old forward has made only five starts in the Bundesliga thus far having slipped down the pecking order and losing his place in the team to Guido Burgstaller and Breel Embrolo, who is unfortunately ruled out until the rest of the season with injury.
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is not satisfied with how the things are going at Schalke at the moment and has suggested that a change of surroundings is at the cards.
The Netherlands international has ruled out a move to China, Turkey or some other exotic destination as he intends to stay closer to home due to family reasons.
“There is a good chance I will continue to live in Netherlands. I am not moving to some club in the desert, China or Turkey”, former Real Madrid and AC Milan forward told De Telegraaf.
