Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has signed a new contract with Schalke, keeping him tied to the Bundesliga club until 2015.
Huntelaar took to his personal Twitter and Facebook accounts to break the news, drawing to an end speculation linking him with a move away from Germany.
“I want to thank all the Schalke fans for their patience over the past period. From the beginning I’ve had a good feeling with the club and the fans,” Huntelaar said.
“I believe that we can achieve beautiful things in the Bundesliga and Champions League. I’m proud that I can be part of this beautiful club.”
The Netherlands striker’s future had been open-ended of late, with a number of clubs around Europe linked with a move for the player’s signature as his deal with the Bundesliga outfit neared its end.
However, the 29-year-old has now drawn this speculation to an end after revealing he has put pen to paper on fresh terms to keep him at Veltins-Arena for another three years.
