(GSM) – Burnley manager Brian Laws has rejected claims that he is set to get sacked by the club. Laws says he is confident of his his long-term future at Turf Moor.
The Clarets have been unconvincing, losing 11 of the 13 games they played in the Premier League, ever since Laws took charge of the team. The former Sheffield Wednesday boss had replaced Owen Coyle in January.
Burnley are stuck in 19th position, four points away from safety with 5 more games to play in the season.
And with their current standing, reports have suggested Laws will be getting the sack anytime soon. However, the manager is planning for their next game which will see them face Hull City.He said, after speaking to members of the board, that he sees no reason why he shouldn’t plan for the remainder of the current campaign and the next.
“Whatever headlines have been written it’s part and parcel of the game, I can’t influence it, all I know is I’m planning for a game for this weekend,” Laws told the Lancashire Telegraph.
“I’ve been working on the players regarding our strategy for the weekend and I’ve been working on the short and long-term strategy of the football club.
“I’ve been doing that with the chairman (Barry Kilby) and (operational director) Brendan Flood.
“As far as I’m concerned we carry on as we have been. I can’t stop rumours. I don’t lose sleep over them either.”
