(GSM) – Heiko Westermann wants to remain at Schalke rather than make a move to Premier League side Sunderland.
Sunderland were reported to have made a £6 million bid for the Germany defender, who is currently recovering from a broken foot but Westermann certain that he has no desire to leave his club for the Black Cats.
“I don’t care whether Sunderland or any other club comes in for me – I want to stay with Schalke,” Westermann told Germany’s Kicker magazine.
“At the end of the day, we are playing in the Champions League next season and have high expectations.
“A transfer is not even a consideration for me.”
“It makes no sense predicting when I will be able to train again,” he said about his injury.
The Germany international missed this summer’s World Cup after suffering a broken foot in a warm-up game against Hungary.
