According to the Corriere dello Sport, Juventus have rejected a transfer bid from Wolfsburg for 28-year-old, Italian striker Vincenzo Iaquinta. However, AS Roma is reportedly ready to launch an offer of their own. Roma coach Luciano Spalletti, is a huge admirer of Iaquinta, having successfully coached him at Udinese in the past.
Wolfsburg, funded by Volkswagen, is one of the most ambitious teams in Germany, and they have signaled their intentions for the future by surprisingly signing Palermo’s highly-rated Italian international defenders Cristian Zaccardo and Andrea Barzagli.
The Corriere report says that they failed in their attempts to buy a third Italian international, when Juventus rejected an undisclosed bid for Iaquinta.
Having only signed for Juventus last summer, and despite a good debut season, he was quite frustrated to be a substitute for the prolific pair of David Trezeguet and Alessandro Del Piero. Iaquinta made just nine starts in Serie A all campaign, and the arrival of Brazilian Amauri from Palermo, has made it look quite likely that he will leave this summer.
