Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic says he is encouraged by his team’s performance in the first leg against Portugal and he is confident the Nordic country can qualify for the World Cup.
It was Cristiano Ronaldo who won the clash of giants at Estadio da Luz, scoring the winner late into the game, but only after Sweden had missed a number of clear-cut chances.
And even with his side going into the return leg with a one-goal deficit, Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes Sweden are in a good position to make it through.
“We’ve got the measure of them now, and that’s an advantage,” Ibrahimovic was quoted as saying.
“It’s the last game before the World Cup now, and from what I’ve heard it’s going to be a full house. Get behind us and we’ll make it.
“We fought hard and well, then one mistake – one goal. That’s how it is. We played a good team. Next we play them at home.”
Sweden are no less than 17/10 to win the return leg, whereas they are 11/4 to qualify for the World Cup by any means necessary.
