The deal to take Zlatan Ibrahimovic from AC Milan to Paris St Germain is still ‘far away’ according to reports from ITV Sport.
It has been rumoured in the couple of days that the Swedish striker is on the verge of a sensational move to France, but his agent has played things down somewhat.
Although the deal is still very possible, Ibrahimovic’s agent says that there is still plenty to work out before his client signs on the dotted line.
Mino Raiola said: “Is everything done with PSG? We are far away.”
“PSG have to convince themselves that with Zlatan they are acquiring the best.”
The second part of this quote certainly suggests that it could come down to the money PSG are willing to offer. If they want to sign Ibrahimovic, they need to pay him plenty of money per week.
Considering the 30-year-old was the leading scorer in Serie A last season, Raiola doesn’t believe it is unreasonable for Ibrahimovic to be one of the highest paid players around.
In terms of AC Milan’s stance on this, they have the player under contract until 2015, so are in a decent position.
If they do lose their star striker, it is likely to be for a significant price. 65million euros for the services of Ibrahimovic and team-mate Thiago Silva has been mentioned of course.
With regards to Ibrahimovic, it will be interesting to see how the discussions with PSG go. It would also be a surprise if no other major teams made their interest known.
