(GSM) – Schalke 04’s new signing Klaas-Jan Huntelaar knew it was time to pack his bags at Milan after the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic from Barcelona.
Before Ibra’s arrival, Huntelaar vowed to fight for his place at Milan despite the club’s wish to sell him. However, when Ibrahimovic joined the Rossoneri, the Holland international realized there were too many strikers at Milan for him to get regular first team football.
“I’ll probably return to Milan on Saturday to get my things and my car from the airport, then I’ll prepare for the match in the Champions League away to Lyon,” Huntelaar explained.
“It’s a pleasure and an honour to play alongside Raul. We know each other already.
“Obviously it’s down to the coach, but I hope to play many games by his side.
“With Ibrahimovic’s arrival at Milan, there were four strikers, too many to think about players every week like I want to.
“I don’t believe Schalke is a step back in my career. We can realise important objectives here,” Huntelaar concluded.
