According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Mauro Icardi is still a prime target for Real Madrid. The Inter Milan forward is said to be waiting on a contract extension with the Italian club, and he is said to be scheduled to meet with them at the start of 2019.
Of course, all of that could mean absolutely nothing if Real come forward with a legitimate offer, as the European champions appear to be very eager to get a deal done.
The 25 year old has built quite the legacy for himself at the San Siro, becoming a fan favourite during his five years with the club. The Argentine made the jump over from Sampdoria in 2013 and hasn’t looked back since.
If Real do go ahead and make an offer then it wouldn’t be all too surprising to see them wait until the summer, as they tend to want to give their signings time to embed themselves into the setup.
