According to reports in Italy, contrary to earlier belief, Mauro Icardi’s contract extension talks with Inter Milan have stalled. There was believed to be a deal in place with the 25 year old that would see him earn up to €6.5 million a year, but his representatives have decided to up that price to €8 million. The club are very eager to get him locked down to a new deal given how much interest there is from around Europe for the young forward, who continues to establish himself as one of the most consistent goalscorers in Europe.
Icardi isn’t the first player and won’t be the last to hold out for more money, and while he may not have directly been the one to give the green light for this latest development, you’d have to imagine that he will be at the forefront of the whole thing given the finances that are at stake.
