Iceland 13/8 to beat the Czech Republic in Wednesdays’ international friendly

Competition: International friendly

Market: Iceland to Czech Republic

Odds: 13/8 @ Bet365

Club football takes a backseat this week as international football returns for another round of games. With most sides already securing their passage to the World Cup next summer, this week is a chance for players to make a claim for a place in the squads, with international friendlies a good time for managers to try out experimental formations and teams. With this in mind, Iceland host the Czech Republic on Wednesday.

Iceland fought their way to the top of Group I in European qualifying as they continued their good run of form.  From their 10 games they managed to win seven times, drawing one game and losing twice. Iceland only managed to score 16 goals in the campaign, but they were very solid at the back, conceding just seven times. For Iceland, this is further recognition of the ability they displayed as they dumped England out of Euro 2016 in what was the biggest victory in their history.

For the Czech Republic, things have not bee quite as positive. They missed out on the top spot in their group to Germany who went through the campaign perfectly, while Northern Ireland beat them to a play-off spot too. Four wins, three draws and three defeats was s solid return, but it proved insufficient as they failed to make it out of the group. They will see their friendly against Iceland as the perfect chance to dull that disappointment, but Bet365 are giving the hosts odds of 13/8 to win this one.
