Competition: EURO 2020 qualifiers
Market: Iceland win
Odds: 7/5 @ Bet 365
In what is being billed as a must-win for Iceland, Erik Hamrén’s side will make the trip to Albania’s Elbasan Arena on Tuesday night.
Starting with Tuesday’s hosts, after shipping four against Group H heavyweights France over the weekend, Albania have seen their EURO 2020 dreams all but in tatters. Now sat six points adrift of the top-two entering the business end of qualification, Head Coach Edoardo Reja has seen his side record just a pair of victories and they have continued to show some issues at the Elbasan Arena. Along with suffering a 1-0 loss against Iceland when the two nations met back in June, Albania have managed to record just three victories on home soil since September 2017, a 10-match run.
As for the visitors, while Iceland’s goal difference may see them still sat behind Turkey in Group H, the mood in Erik Hamrén’s camp is on the rise. Picking up an empathic 3-0 win over Moldova on Saturday, the Blues have won their last three matches on the spin and their only defeat in Group H came against defending world champions France back in March. Showing some real improvements at both ends of the pitch and also securing a 1-0 win over Albania the last time the two sides met, we’re backing a resurgent Iceland to come away with the victory in midweek.
