Igor Akinfeev on Monaco radar

Russian daily newspaper Izvestia is reporting that Monaco are lining up a bid for CSKA Moscow goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev.

The Principality club are actively searching for a new number one, and while Barcelona’s Victor Valdes remains their primary target, they also want to have a back-up plan should the Spaniard reject a move to Stade Louis II.

And according to Izvestia, Monaco are keeping close tabs on CSKA Moscow star Igor Akinfeev.

The 27-year-old has just over six months left on his deal in Russia and even though he is currently in talks over a contract extension, the negotiations are not going according to plan.

This basically means that the experienced shot-stopper can be signed for a nominal fee in the January transfer window.

Having recorded five straight victories in French Ligue 1 without conceding a single goal in the process, Monaco are 5/6 to win to nil when they host Valenciennes on Friday.
