Ilkay Gundogan nears Dortmund exit

German media outlet Bild claims that Ilkay Gundogan could be leaving Signal-Iduna Park at the end of the current campaign.

The Germany international has been contemplating a move away from the club for quite some time, but he would eventually remain with the Millionaires.

However, it would appear as though Gundogan has decided to look for a new challenge in the summer transfer window, with quite a few top clubs expected to reignite interest in his services.

And the fact that Borussia Dortmund officials are actively searching for his replacement is enough to suggest they are preparing for life after the 25-year-old.

The Millionaires recently secured the services of Osasuna starlet Fran Merino, while they are hot on the trail of Borussia M’gladbach footballer Mahmoud Dahoud.

The 20-year-old has largely impressed in his first season as a first team regular, making 20 Bundesliga appearances and scoring 2 goals in the process.
