Bayern Munich star Arjen Robben has revealed he was not fully fit for his side’s 7-0 Champions League demolition of Basel on Tuesday.

Bayern stormed into the quarter-finals of the Champions League with a dominant display over the Swiss outfit in a match they needed to win after defeat in the first leg in Basel.

The Dutch winger scored two goals as Jupp Heynckes’ team completely overwhelmed their Swiss visitors, making it 14 goals in a week for the Bavarians after their 7-1 trouncing of Hoffenheim on Saturday.

The former Real Madrid man was quick to lavish praise on the performance, while adding that he had been on medication after feeling ill during the week.

“Seven goals in the Champions League is incredible,” Robben said.

“Our last two games have been incredible; we’ve scored 14 goals. Maybe this will make other teams take notice of us.”

“Maybe it is a bit strange to say, but I wasn’t totally fit. I was on antibiotics, because I have a little bit of a cold.”

And when asked who he would like to face in the quarter-finals, he added coyly: “Maybe you can say that ‘you don’t want to play Barcelona or Real Madrid’, but let’s see what happens.”

Bayern captain Philipp Lahm was also full of congratulation for his side after the game.

The full-back stated: “The early goal was important for us. You could see against Hoffenheim – we’re able to destroy an opponent if we’re in a good mood.”
