(GSM) – Clausura leaders Independiente dropped their second straight game on Saturday, falling 1-0 at home to struggling San Lorenzo.

After falling in the midweek to Gimnasia and seeing their lead in the tournament trimmed to two points, Independiente were desperate to quickly get back on track.

But it started out poorly when San Lorenzo took the lead in the eighth minute, Nélson Benítez dropping in a shot beyond Adrián Gabbarini for a 1-0 lead.

From that point, San Lorenzo packed it in and defended incredibly well to secure their best victory of the tournament – and just their fourth overall.

Godoy Cruz and Argentinos Juniors are both in action on Sunday and Monday, respectively, and both sit just two points back of Independiente.
