(GSM) – Independiente maintained their two-point lead over Godoy Cruz on Sunday in the Clausura after both sides claimed 2-0 wins over Rosario Central and Banfield, respectively.

Independiente left it fairly late for their fifth win on the trot in the tournament, Rosario holding the match at 0-0 until the 77th minute.

At that point, defender Lucas Mareque found his way through to finally break down the resistance, knocking a shot past Hernán Galíndez for a 1-0 lead.

Visibly shaken by that goal, Rosario had nothing left and conceded again in the 85th minute as Leonel Núñez struck to make it 2-0.

Later in the evening, Godoy Cruz hosted Banfield in a top-five clash, and the home side cashed in early.

Leonardo Sigali tapped home past Cristián Luccethi to give the surprise outfit a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute.

Banfield improved a bit as the game went on, but the home side defending kept them at bay.

That gave Godoy Cruz the chance to make it 2-0 in the 74th minute on a goal by David Ramírez.
