(GSM) – Independiente’s hopes of claiming the Clausura title took a slight hit on Wednesday when they were beaten 2-1 at Gimnasia La Plata.

Marcos Pérez opened the scoring for Gimnasia in the 21st minute at Estadio Juan Carlos Zerillo, but Federico Mancuello equalized for the visitors five minutes before the break.

Pérez, however, snatched all three points from Gimnasia in the 68th minute with his second of the game.

The loss – just Independiente’s second of the tournament – leaves them three points clear of Godoy Cruz, who play on Thursday.
