Ings linked with Saints switch

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman is readying a move for Burnley striker Danny Ings, according to the Mirror.

The 22 year old scored his fourth league goal in five games with a late penalty in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with fellow Premier League strugglers Aston Villa taking his tally to thirty-six in one hundred and four appearances for the Clarets.

He started out at Southampton but was released as a school boy, with local rivals Bournemouth taking him in in 2006.

Saints boss Koeman is keen to add another striker to ease the pressure on Graziano Pelle, who has now gone four games without scoring following Sunday’s 3-0 home defeat to champions Manchester City.

That result saw the South Coast side slip to third place, though they remain five points clear of fifth place West Ham United and can be backed at a price of 9/4 to finish in the Champions League qualification places.
