Ings staying at Burnley; Swansea sign Jack Cork from Southampton

Burnley F.C. manager Sean Dyche has insisted in-form striker Danny Ings will not leave the club during the January transfer window.

Burnley F.C. manager Sean Dyche has insisted in-form striker Danny Ings will not leave the club during the January transfer window.

The England youth international, whose current contract is set to expire at the end of the season, has been linked with an exit from Turf Moor in recent weeks.

Ings, 22, was visibly disappointed after being substituted on 60 minutes against Sunderland on Saturday.

After the match, Dyche revealed the transfer speculation has affected the 22-year-old.

“There has been a lot going on over the last 24 hours for a young player and he looked a little bit lacking in energy today,” Dyche told Sky Sports.

“It’s very difficult, he is a young man doing fantastically well in the Premier League and he knows he is staying, that’s a given.

“The club have been steadfast in their opinion, from the chairman to the chief executive and myself and the player most importantly. He has said all along he will be part of Burnley this season and we look forward to that.

“He has had a lot on his plate so we look forward to him getting settled down next week, training again, getting sharp and he will be ready to go.”

Ings, who has been linked with Liverpool and David Moyes’ Real Sociedad this month, has tallied seven goals and three assists in 20 English Premier League appearances for the Clarets in 2014/15.

Swansea sign Jack Cork from Southampton

Swansea City have completed the signing of midfielder Jack Cork from Southampton for a fee believed to be in the region of £3 million.

Cork, 25, was targeted by the Swans in the summer but nothing materialised, as the player was happy at St Mary’s.

However, the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin, Steven Davis and Victor Wanyama kept the 25-year-old out of the first-team, limiting him to just five league starts from 22  fixtures.

“I pushed a little bit for him to come in the summer, but it didn’t happen because he was committed to Southampton and going forward with them.

“But when the opportunity came up again in this window, we were happy to have the chance to bring him in,” Monk said.

“I was surprised a little bit he was available. I understand an offer of a new contract was in place at Southampton, but for whatever reasons he felt he didn’t want to sign it.

“He wanted to come here and we have showed the same enthusiasm to sign him, so that’s a good recipe.”

Will Cork be a good signing for the Swans?
