Sky Sports have reported a claim by Catalunya Radio that Barcelona‘s Andres Iniesta has agreed a deal to move to Chinese club Tianjin Quanjian.
Iniesta has been at the Catalan club since 2002, appearing in 665 games and scoring 56 goals in all competitions. Before that, he played three years for their “B” outfit. He has won four Champions League medals with the club, complemented nicely by two European Championships and a World Cup with Spain.
However, the maestro turns 34 in May this year. Barcelona have started preparing for life without him by signing Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool this January for €160 million. Coutinho is an excellent player and will fit their style well, but he has yet to hit top gear at Camp Nou. Also, the Brazilian was ineligible to play in the Champions League due to playing for Liverpool in the competition in the group stages, so Iniesta has still been crucial for the Blaugrana this campaign.
He hinted after their dropping out of Europe’s elite competition at the possibility that it was his last game in it. Now it seems it was.
