Manchester United and Manchester City have both been alerted by the news that Anders Iniesta has rejected Barcelona’s offer of a new contract, the Daily Star understands.
Despite securing a deadline day deal for Belgium international Marouane Fellaini, David Moyes is keen to add further options in the middle of the park.
Iniesta’s club and international teammate Cesc Fabregas was the subject of two failed bids from the Premier League champions during the summer.
However, they and their fierce rivals would lap up the chance to sign the World Cup winner, who is understood to be disappointed with the new terms offered by the Catalan club.
City already have close links to the 29 year old, following their appointment of former Barcelona Sporting Director Txiki Begiristain and CEO Ferran Soriano.
Paris Saint Germain, Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Chelsea are also said to be monitoring the situation, which chiefs at the Nou Camp hope can be resolved in their favour.
